Clean, subtle floral scent
This little jar is elegant and beautiful, but the packaging could use some fine-tuning. There is no lid, just a thin plastic disk covering most of the candle, but not the outer rim. It needs a lid to help preserve the scent, so I cover my jar with tin foil when not using - which ruins the look, I have to hide it when storing :( And then the candle tunnels where the disk was; the outer rim never melts. This is the only candle I've ever had tunnel on a first long burn. It's burned for 18 hours so far, and it is definitely tunnelling. No worries! I'm expert at correcting tunneling - see my tip below.
This Roses scent is nice. I never thought of myself as a floral person, but I enjoy many YC floral candles in the Spring/Summer now. This does not have a sweet, cloying roses scent; it's clean and subtle, very nice. Maybe a little bit too subtle, it's definitely a background scent, even after burning this long.
And here's how I fix tunneling candles: Let it burn awhile, the wick should be long so extra wax won't drown it out; it could take several burns to completely correct the tunneling. Take a sharp knife and cut a square out of the unmelted wax from the side; slice your knife beneath the melting point, so when you remove the wax chunk, melted wax flows in it's place. Put the wax chunk close to the wick and wait for it to melt. After it's completely melted, slice off another unmelted chunk from the side and put it in the middle. After you've done this all the way around the candle you'll have a flat, clean wax surface again :) This is time consuming, but works every time; and it prevents wasted wax.
