I would suggest using the glass lid from the candle / jar when you want to put out the flame. This keeps you from having soot inside your tree candle holder! I have this lantern. It&#39;s large and uts gorgeous. However I&#39;d b concerned about it rusting if left outside all the time. It is primarily metal construction. The lantern has little feet so it does not sit directly on the surface and the bottom is metal and has a ring inside of it to put the candle inside of. Though it still has impact at say the start of a large jar candle.
